SHOPPR PICNIC IN THE PARK11:52 PM
I love attending Shoppr events because 1) it's always another reason to dress up, 2) Nobody's gonna judge you if you're overdressed, 3) you can get away with wearing things that you normally wouldn't wear out in public and 4) you get to meet the sweetest girls from the Shoppr community! This picnic rendezvous was held in the Lake Gardens in Kuala Lumpur and oh god, I never knew Lake Gardens was this pretty. Granted, the last time I was here was close to 10 years ago but it baffles me how I never passed all these pretty locations close to once. It was originally meant to be in an open air area (great for photo ops!) but it ended up pouring rain before the event started so the Shoppr team moved it to a covered area. The rain was a blessing in disguise because the temperature was just perfect, albeit the puddles some of us stepped in. I brought my friend Crystal along as a plus one and the Shoppr girls managed to make her feel welcome as well.
The Shoppr app is available for download on iOS and Android now! What is it you ask? What if I told you that it's a Tinder and Instagram-inspired app, but solely for clothes and ootds within the Malaysian community! Not only that Shoppr organizes beauty and fashion related events, meetups and workshops. Sold yet?
Met some of the other Shoppr ambassadors as well as their plus ones! I'm glad we're likeminded in the sense that we all love taking photos at locations with pretty backdrops, haha! In photo: myself, Crystal, Angie, Cheryl, Carmen, Qistina and Amy!
Meet these two ladies of the Shoppr team, Becca and Ming! They're part of the brains behind the Shoppr team!
Myself and Amy, loved her dress and really loved these shots too! Check her out here!
Favorite photo of the day!
The most interesting part of the picnic event was the clothing swap! Basically, everyone brought their old clothes and laid them out on the mat and exchanged their old clothes for "new" ones and the remainders were to be donated to charity. Interesting concept isn't it? One (wo)man's trash is really another's treasure. Topshop and Zara inspired dresses were among the bundle of clothes. Spotted a few really nice tops and dresses but unfortunately I didn't bring any along to barter. Shoppr team, if you're reading this, do organize another one!!
You know those gladiator sandals or strappy sandals that are all the rage right now? Nadia, one of Shoppr's content creators, led a workshop teaching everyone how to DIY your own using flip flops and string/ribbon/scarves! If you know me, you'll know how I'm always on the hunt for bargains, steals and deals so this definitely tickled my fancy. Definitely gonna try this out on my own at home sometime soon!
All in all, had a blast with the Shoppr girls! If you're interested in being a part of the Shoppr community, do start by downloading the app and posting up some OOTD's! Looking forward to seeing new faces in the app!
