Valentine's Day Unconventional Outfit Ideas

11:23 PM

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and I'm sure a lot of you are stressing on what to wear for that special occasion. It doesn't matter whether you're taken, single or just not interested, Valentine's Day is for everyone! Love doesn't have to be romantic, it can be platonic, brotherly/sisterly or even love to your pets!

I've come up with a few outfit ideas for Valentine's Day! Mind you, these outfits are pretty unconventional. If you're expecting to wear hues of pinks, reds and crimson, I'm sorry but you may not be able to take these outfits into consideration :P All of the outfits here are more my style, meaning dark/monochrome colors with just a hint of color. Let's see what I mean by unconventional.....

1) Casual date
If you and your date are just planning to chill at a mall and do activities like watch a movie, go bowling or even mini golfing and laser tag, you could wear this! Totally casual and fuss-free. You don't have to worry about getting upskirted halfway having fun or something like that :P

Denim vest: Divided by H&M
Turtleneck crop top: Topshop
Jeggings: Uniqlo
Shoes: Toms

2) Romantic dinner date
This is what I personally would wear out to a dinner date somewhere nice with my boyfriend. Kimonos are all the rage now, as it's very feminine and it flows over your body nicely, giving an illusion of a seamless silhouette. This outfit just consists of a simple top+skirt/dress + kimono combo, and everyone will think that you spent ages on this outfit when in reality, you just threw on a kimono and went out the door!

Kimono: Forever 21
Spaghetti Strap Tank Top: Random one
Bodycon skirt: Forever 21
Flats: H&M

3) Girls' Day Out
Don't feel left out if you're single, because Valentine's Day isn't just about couples! It's about spending the day with your friends and showing them your love as well! I personally spent last year's Valentine's Day with my best friends and we had so much fun, we went out for a nice lunch & bought each other gifts like cupcakes, balloons and roses!

 Necklace: Boutique in KL
Top: Stall from One Utama
Skirt: Boutique in KL
Sandals: Cotton On

Floral top to add a bit of girlish Valentine's feel

4) Clubbing
Valentine's Day this year falls on a Friday, and what better for singles than a Friday night out? Let loose and turn up in the club, and basically just have a blast with your friends with good music and good company! You might even meet another single and have a V-day fling :P I put this bustier top & bodycon skirt together to create a 'dress' since I really like the sweetheart neckline of the bustier top! You can never go wrong with a little black dress, or in my case, 'dress'!

Silver Chain Necklace: H&M
Bustier top: Vintage
Bodycon skirt: Forever 21
Heels: Forgot lol

Haha, I'm sure you guys didn't expect the amount of black in this post, since Valentine's Day is usually represented by pink, red, magenta, crimson items! But these are what I personally would wear on Valentine's Day if I was doing any of the above!

Stuck on what to do for Valentine's Day?
Here are a few suggestions just off the top of my head. :)

1) Go mini golfing @ Mini Putt, Citta Mall
2) Cook together and prepare your own Valentine's Day lunch/ dinner with your special someone! (It will definitely strengthen the bond between the both of you, and if your meal turns out crappy you can always go eat out somewhere)
3) Go to a recreational park. (I don't mean the small ones in your housing area, I mean the big nice ones, for example, Lake Gardens, KLCC park or Desa Parkcity! You can take a nice stroll around the park and just enjoy the view)
4) Head to any lookout points at night within accessible reach (for example the rooftop of a condominium, or some 'hills' around KL like Bukit Ampang or Bukit Pantai in Bangsar) and just enjoy the view of the city skyline at night

Hope these ideas helped you guys out!
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!
